On Monday, July 1, Kees van Weijen celebrated 50 years in the music industry. During the STOMP Summer Party this milestone was extensively celebrated.
Anne de Jong, director of NVPI, presented him with a gold record, and STOMP board member Floris Janssen surprised Van Weijen with his own magazine, the KEES.
The magazine contains numerous anecdotes from industry colleagues and many photos from his personal collection. It also includes an extensive interview in which Werner Schlosser looks back on his career with the honoree. All visitors to the party received a copy of the KEES to take home.
If you weren’t able to attend, you can read the interview online in English or Dutch on this website or at . As a bonus, you’ll get overviews of, among other things, the most remarkable figures Kees has ever worked with, the projects he is most proud of, and his favorite albums of all time. Werner also highlights Kees the family man and Kees the collector, and presents him with a number of dilemmas.
