What’s the best part of your job?
“Discovering new artists and giving them the chance to break through. I truly see that as my most important task.”
Are you a morning or an evening person?
“I’m always on. My wife is sitting across from me and already laughing. I wake up cheerful and go to bed with a smile.”
What did you want to be when you were younger?
“Certainly not an insurance agent. I come from an insurance family. My brother and I were supposed to take over my father’s insurance office, but at 16, I said: ‘That’s not going to happen, I’m going into music.’ And that’s what I’ve done for the rest of my life – and I still do.”
What concert will always stay with you?
“That would be the concert by the Australian rock group INXS, for whom I was a product manager for about seven years. They played as the opening act for Queen at Wembley Stadium in England. I was there with my youngest daughter, who was seven at the time. We had lunch with the band first and then witnessed an amazing performance.”
Which artist would you still like to see live?
“I was a product manager for Elton John for about eight years and have probably seen him perform over 120 times. I missed his farewell tour but would love to see him one last time.”
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in recent years?
“That big tech companies pose the greatest threat to the music industry. Even in 2024 – with technologies like AI and the impact of algorithms – it’s essential to keep fighting within STOMP and IMPALA to make sure the voices of artists and independent labels are heard.”
What’s your biggest passion outside of work?
“I’m a family man, I love traveling, and I collect Shell miniature cars.”
What book is on your nightstand?
“Juliette or the Joy of Books, written by French author Christine Féret-Fleury. It’s a beautiful novel about the power and impact of books.”
What do you procrastinate on the most?
“Tidying up and decluttering.”
What do most professionals not know about you?
“I really enjoy nature and often take long walks in the woods or on the beach.”

Wat is het leukste aan je baan?
“Het ontdekken van nieuwe artiesten en ze de kans geven om door te breken. Dat zie ik echt als mijn belangrijkste taak.”
Ben je een ochtend- of een avondmens?
“Ik sta altijd aan. Mijn vrouw zit tegenover en begint al te lachen. Ik sta vrolijk op en ga naar bed met een lach.”
Wat wilde je vroeger worden?
“In ieder geval géén assurantie-agent. Ik kom uit een assurantiefamilie. Mijn broer en ik zouden het assurantiekantoor van mijn vader overnemen en op mijn 16e heb ik gezegd: ‘Dat gaat ‘m niet worden, ik ga in de muziek.’ En dat heb ik de rest van mijn leven gedaan – en doe ik nog steeds.”
Welk concert blijft je voor altijd bij?
“Dat is het concert van de Australische rockgroep INXS, waar ik een jaar of zeven productmanager van ben geweest. Ze speelden in het voorprogramma van Queen in het Engelse Wembley Stadium. Ik was daar met mijn jongste dochter, die toen zeven was. We hebben eerst geluncht met de band en zagen toen een geweldig optreden.”
Welke artiest zou je graag nog live willen zien?
“Ook van Elton John ben ik een jaar of acht productmanager geweest en heb hem misschien wel 120 keer zien optreden. Ik heb hem gemist tijdens zijn afscheidstournee, maar zou hem graag nog een laatste keer willen zien.”
Wat is de belangrijkste les die je hebt geleerd in de afgelopen jaren?
“Dat de grote tech-bedrijven de grootste bedreiging voor de muziekindustrie vormen. Ook anno 2024 – met technologieën als AI en de impact van algoritmes – is het zaak om binnen STOMP en IMPALA te blijven vechten om de stem van de artiesten en de independent labels te laten horen.”
Wat is buiten je werk je grootste passie?
“Ik ben een familieman, ik vind reizen heerlijk en heb een verzameling Shell miniatuurauto’s.”
Welk boek ligt er op je nachtkastje?
“Juliette of het geluk van boeken, geschreven door de Française Christine Féret-Fleury. Een prachtige roman over de kracht en impact van boeken.”
Wat stel je het vaakst uit?
“Opruimen en ontspullen.”
Wat weten de meeste professionals niet over jou?
“Ik kan enorm genieten van de natuur, en maak vaak lange bos- en strandwandelingen.”
